Official Recruitment Release: The Staff Selection Commission published the comprehensive notification for the Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, & Electrical) and Scientific Assistant Examination 2026 late on 02 September. Online registration is officially underway on the new SSC portal.

Eligibility Criteria & Age Limits
Qualifications depend strictly on the user department (e.g., CPWD, BRO, MES, CWC, NTRO, IMD):
- Educational Qualification: Degree or 3-year Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university or institute. Certain departments like MES and BRO require 2 years of relevant experience for diploma holders.
- Scientific Assistant (IMD): Bachelor’s Degree in Science (with Physics as one of the subjects) / Computer Science / Information Technology or Diploma in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.
- Age Limit: Up to 30 years or 32 years (depending on the post/department) as on the crucial date. Standard relaxations apply for SC/ST (5 yrs), OBC (3 yrs), and PwBD candidates.
- Application Fee: Rs. 100/- for General/OBC/EWS males. Women candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen are exempted from fee payment.
How to Apply Online on New SSC Portal
- Visit the official SSC portal at ssc.gov.in.
- Complete One Time Registration (OTR) if not registered previously on the new portal.
- Log in using your OTR Registration Number and Password.
- Navigate to the Apply tab and locate Junior Engineer Examination 2026.
- Complete the application form, capture live photograph using webcam or official app as mandated by SSC, and upload digital signature.
- Review all details in preview mode, pay the fee online, and submit before 22 September 2026 at 23:00 IST.
Note: The 1,748 vacancies are purely tentative and subject to departmental adjustments. Candidates must verify physical and medical fitness requirements for departments such as Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
