RRB Technician Exam Date 2026 (CEN 02/2026): CBT Held 6–9 October

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) conducted the Computer Based Test (CBT) for Technician Grade I Signal and Technician Grade III posts under CEN 02/2026 from 6 to 9 October 2026. The exam city intimation was made available about ten days before the exam, and e-call letters about four days before. RRB Technician CEN 02/2026: Overview

Exam Pattern

Grade I Signal covers general awareness, general intelligence and reasoning, basics of computers and applications, mathematics, and basic science and engineering. Grade III covers mathematics, general intelligence and reasoning, general science, and general awareness. One-third of a mark is deducted for each wrong answer, as in other RRB CBTs.

Aadhaar and Exam Day Rules

• Candidates had to bring the original Aadhaar card or a printout of e-verified Aadhaar for biometric authentication at the centre.
• The Aadhaar biometrics had to be unlocked in the UIDAI system before the exam.
• The e-call letter, a valid photo ID and the photographs as instructed were mandatory.
• Candidates were advised to reach early because of frisking and biometric checks.

What Comes After the CBT

1. Provisional answer key: RRBs publish the question papers, candidates’ responses and the key, with a window to raise objections for a fee (refunded if the objection is accepted).
2. Result: released RRB-wise on the regional RRB websites, with normalised marks.
3. Document verification and medical examination: for candidates shortlisted on merit. Technician posts need specific medical standards, so check the standard of the post you chose.
4. Final panel: prepared on merit, preference and medical fitness.

How to Calculate Your Probable Score

When the answer key is out, give yourself 1 mark for each correct answer and deduct 1/3 mark for each wrong answer. Unattempted questions get zero. Because the exam was held in many shifts, RRBs normalise marks, so your final score may differ slightly from the raw score.

• Class 10 certificate and mark sheet
• ITI / Diploma / degree certificates as required for the post
• Caste, EWS or PwBD certificate in the CEN format, if claimed
• Photo ID and recent photographs
• NOC from employer, if working in a government department

About Technician Grade I and Grade III Posts

Technician Grade I Signal is a Level 5 post in the 7th CPC pay matrix and needs a B.Sc. in physics or electronics, or a diploma or degree in specified engineering branches. Technician Grade III is a Level 2 post for candidates with Class 10 and an ITI or apprenticeship in the trade concerned. Technicians maintain and repair signalling equipment, locomotives, coaches, track machines and other railway assets in workshops and sheds across the zones.
