Class VI Admission for Academic Session 2027-28

NVS Class 6 Admission 2027 registration started on 07 July 2026 for admission to Class VI in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. Therefore, eligible students should submit the free online form by 31 July 2026. After that, NVS will conduct the JNV Selection Test on 28 November 2026.

Admission Overview

NVS Class 6 Admission 2027 Eligibility

• First, the candidate must be a bona fide resident of the district where the family seeks admission.
• In addition, the candidate must study in Class V throughout the academic session 2026-27 in a Government, Government-aided or recognized school.
• For example, NIOS candidates must hold the prescribed ‘B’ certificate and meet the district-residence conditions.
• Therefore, the candidate must submit the application for the JNV located in the district of residence.
• However, a student who studies Class V in a neighbouring district may remain eligible only under the prospectus conditions, including the distance rule.
• Moreover, candidates cannot apply if they passed or studied Class V in an earlier session, repeated Class V, or previously took the Class VI selection test.
• Finally, the school must promote and admit the candidate to Class V on or before 31 July 2026.

Seat and Reservation Rules

• First, NVS fills at least 75% of the district seats with candidates from rural areas.
• Meanwhile, NVS fills the remaining open seats on merit from rural and urban candidates.
• In addition, NVS calculates SC and ST reservation from the district population while following the prescribed minimum and maximum limits.
• Also, NVS provides 27% OBC reservation according to the Central List. Candidates outside the Central OBC List must apply as General candidates.
• Moreover, NVS fills at least one-third of the total seats with girls.
• Finally, Government of India rules provide reservation for eligible Divyang candidates.

JNVST 2027 Exam Pattern

• First, NVS will conduct the test from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.
• In addition, students will answer all objective questions on an OMR sheet.
• Therefore, each correct answer adds 1.25 marks to the score.
• However, NVS will not deduct marks for wrong answers.
• Moreover, eligible Divyang candidates receive 40 additional minutes.
• Finally, the prospectus sets the minimum section marks at 14 for Mental Ability and EVS, 7 for Arithmetic and 7 for Language.

JNVST Class 6 Syllabus

• Mental Ability: Pattern completion, figure series, geometrical figure completion, mirror and water images, and embedded figures.
• Environmental Studies: Basic awareness of science, social science, environment and the candidate’s surroundings.
• Arithmetic: Number system, operations, fractions, factors, measurements and Class V-level mathematical understanding.
• Language: Reading comprehension through passages and related objective questions.

Documents Required for Registration

• Recent photograph of the candidate in JPG format
• Candidate’s signature in JPG format
• Parent or guardian’s signature in JPG format
• Aadhaar details or residence certificate issued by a competent Government authority
• Required school or eligibility certificate
• SC, ST, Central OBC or Divyang certificate, where applicable
• Active mobile number for OTP and registration messages

In addition, the prospectus asks candidates to prepare the photograph, signatures and certificate files in JPG format. Generally, each file should remain between 10 KB and 100 KB.

• Government-issued birth certificate
• Valid district residence certificate
• Proof of eligibility and school-study details for Classes III, IV and V
• Rural-area certificate, where required
• Candidate’s Aadhaar card
• Headmaster’s certificate showing rural or urban location of the schools attended
• SC, ST, Central OBC, Divyang or UDID certificate, where applicable
• Transfer Certificate from the previous school
• Migration undertaking

How to Apply for NVS Class 6 Admission 2027

1. First, open the official NVS Class VI admission portal.
2. Next, read the complete prospectus and confirm the district, date-of-birth and Class V eligibility.
3. Then, complete the new registration with the candidate and parent details.
4. After that, select the correct State, district, block, school area, category and examination language.
5. In addition, upload the photograph, candidate signature, parent signature and required certificates.
6. However, check every entry carefully because NVS treats the submitted data as final, except for fields available during the correction window.
7. Finally, submit the application and save the registration number and confirmation page.
