What Does an RSETI Office Assistant Do?

RSETIs train rural youth in self-employment skills, such as tailoring, dairy, mobile repair or beauty parlour management, and help them start small businesses with bank credit. The office assistant supports the Director and faculty in running the institute. Typical duties are:

  • Maintaining accounts, vouchers, books and registers
  • Updating trainee and programme data in the online systems
  • Preparing periodic reports for the bank and the national RSETI bodies
  • Following up on training batches, settlement of trainees and other centre activities

Selection Process

The Regional Office of Central Bank of India at Katihar screens the applications received. Candidates who meet all conditions are called for a personal interview. The panel usually looks at qualification, communication, computer and accounting skills, relevant experience and problem-solving ability. Shortlisted candidates are informed about the interview by email, phone or post.

Documents to Carry to the Interview

  • Interview call letter (if issued) and a copy of the submitted application
  • Original graduation certificate and mark sheets
  • Proof of date of birth and photo identity card
  • Computer course certificate, if any
  • Original experience certificate, if experience was claimed
  • Recent passport-size photographs

Tips for Applicants

Revise basic accounting entries, MS Excel and Tally, as practical questions are common in such interviews. Learn about RSETI’s role in rural self-employment and the kind of training programmes it runs. Interviews for local contractual posts are often scheduled at short notice, so keep your phone reachable and check your email regularly.

Similar Opportunities

Central Bank of India and other sponsor banks (such as SBI, Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank and Canara Bank) regularly hire faculty, office assistants and attendants for their RSETIs on contract. These openings are announced on the bank websites, usually for a specific district.
