Key Update: IIT Madras has opened the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) following updated opening schedules. For the 2027 cycle, DigiLocker verification is strictly mandated for all Indian nationals during registration.

Major Highlights for GATE 2027
- New Test Paper Introduced: IIT Madras has introduced a dedicated paper in Robotics and Automation, expanding the choice of subjects.
- Mandatory DigiLocker Integration: Indian candidates must register using a verified DigiLocker account. Name, date of birth, and identity credentials will be authenticated directly from government repositories.
- Eligibility: Candidates currently studying in the 3rd year or higher of any undergraduate degree programme, or who have already completed any government-approved degree programme in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts / Humanities.
How to Register via GOAPS
- Access the official portal at gate2027.iitm.ac.in and click on Apply Online.
- Log in using DigiLocker authentication to auto-fetch verified identity details.
- Enter communication address, degree details, and choose one or two allowed test paper combinations.
- Select preferred exam cities from the available zones.
- Upload recent passport photo, digital signature, and category/PwD certificates adhering strictly to 2027 pixel specifications.
- Pay the application fee via net banking/UPI and submit before 27 September 2026.
