Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering GATE 2027
Indian Institute of Technology Madras has released the official Information Brochure for GATE 2027. Online registration through the GATE Online Application Processing System will start on 14 August 2026. Eligible candidates can submit the form without a late fee until 21 September 2026.

A candidate currently studying in the third or higher year of an undergraduate degree programme, or one who has completed a government-approved degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts or Humanities, may apply.

What Is New in GATE 2027?
- IIT Madras is the organising institute.
- Robotics and Automation has been introduced as a new test paper.
- GATE 2027 will include a total of 30 test papers.
- The syllabi of the test papers have been revised.
- Textile Engineering and Fibre Science is now included as the XE9 section.
- Paper codes for XE, XH and XL sectional papers have changed.
- Applicants must provide live facial details during registration.
- Verified DigiLocker registration is recommended.
- There are no international examination centres for GATE 2027.

How to Fill GATE 2027 Online Form
- Open the official GATE 2027 website.
- Read the Information Brochure and eligibility criteria carefully.
- Click the GOAPS registration link after it becomes active on 14 August 2026.
- Register using your name, email address and mobile number.
- Create a password and note the generated enrolment ID.
- Enter personal, communication and educational details.
- Select one or two eligible test papers.
- Select three examination cities from the same GATE zone.
- Upload photograph, signature, photo ID and applicable certificates.
- Complete the live facial-detail verification.
- Pay the prescribed application fee online.
- Preview the complete form before final submission.
- Download and save the submitted application form.
