Northeast Frontier Railway issued Notification No.
NFR/NAPS/ACT APP./2026 dated 14 July 2026 for engagement
of Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961.

The recruitment covers 6,777 training slots in designated trades across
NFR divisions, workshops and headquarters units. Online registration
became active on 20 July 2026 at 9:00 AM.

Trade-wise and community-wise slots are provided separately in
Annexures I to VIII of the official notification. The number of slots is
provisional and may increase or decrease according to administrative
requirements.

NFR Apprentice Eligibility 2026

For Most ITI Trades

  • Candidate must have passed Class 10 or Matriculation under the
    10+2 system from a recognized board.
  • A minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Class 10 is required for
    general eligibility.
  • The minimum 50% condition in Class 10 does not apply to
    SC, ST and PwBD candidates.
  • Candidate must possess the National Trade Certificate or
    provisional certificate in the relevant notified trade issued by
    NCVT or SCVT.
  • The required ITI qualification must have been completed and the
    certificate must be available on the notification date.

For Laboratory Technician Pathology and Radiology

  • Candidate must have passed Class 10 with at least 50% marks.
  • Candidate must have passed Class 12 Science with Physics,
    Chemistry and Biology with at least 50% marks.
  • Both Class 10 and Class 12 marksheets and passing certificates
    must be uploaded.

The recruitment includes training slots in several designated trades,

Candidates must check the official trade-mapping table because only
specified NCVT or SCVT trades are eligible for each apprenticeship
category.

NFR Apprentice Selection Process

No written examination or interview has been prescribed.
Selection will be completed through academic merit.

  1. Unit-wise, trade-wise and community-wise merit list will be
    prepared.
  2. For ITI trades, the merit score will be calculated from the average
    percentage of Class 10 and ITI marks.
  3. For Laboratory Technician Pathology and Radiology, the average of
    Class 10 and Class 12 Science marks will be considered.
  4. When two candidates have equal merit, the older candidate will be
    placed higher.
  5. When age is also equal, the candidate who passed Class 10 earlier
    will receive preference.
  6. Candidates will be called for document verification up to
    approximately 1.5 times the notified slots.
  7. Final engagement will depend on original-document verification and
    prescribed medical fitness.

NFR Apprentice Stipend and Training

  • The minimum monthly stipend stated for NTC or STC holders is
    ₹9,600, subject to applicable rules and revision.
  • Where second-year training applies, the stated stipend is
    ₹10,560 per month.
  • Where third-year training applies, the stated stipend is
    ₹11,040 per month.
  • Most notified training periods are one year, while certain listed
    trades may have a shorter period.
  • No hostel accommodation will be provided. Selected apprentices
    must arrange their own accommodation.

Documents Required

  • Class 10 marksheet and passing certificate
  • Proof of date of birth, where not shown on the Class 10 certificate
  • ITI consolidated marksheet for all semesters
  • National Trade Certificate or provisional trade certificate
  • Class 12 Science marksheet for Laboratory Technician applicants
  • Recent passport-size photograph
  • Scanned signature
  • SC, ST or OBC certificate, where applicable
  • EWS certificate, where applicable
  • PwBD certificate, where applicable
  • Ex-Servicemen documents, where applicable
  • EBC certificate for fee exemption, where applicable

All original certificates must be produced during document
verification. Documents issued in a language other than English or
Hindi should be accompanied by an attested translation.

Medical Fitness Requirement

Shortlisted candidates must produce the medical certificate in the
prescribed notification format during document verification. It must
be signed by an authorized government doctor not below the required
rank. Document verification may not be conducted without the medical
certificate.

  2. Read Notification No. NFR/NAPS/ACT APP./2026 carefully.
  3. Open the official online application portal.
  4. Complete the new-candidate registration using an active mobile
    number and email address.
  5. Log in with the generated registration details.
  6. Enter personal, educational and ITI information carefully.
  7. Select eligible units, departments and trades in the desired order
    of preference.
  8. Upload the photograph, signature, qualification certificates and
    category documents.
  9. Pay the application fee where applicable.
  10. Review the entire application before final submission.
  11. Download the submitted application and payment receipt for future
    reference.
Important:
A candidate is permitted to submit only one application. Submitting
multiple applications can result in disqualification.

Important Instructions

  • Check the eligible ITI trade mapping before selecting any
    apprenticeship trade.
  • Candidates can submit only one online application but may enter
    multiple eligible unit and trade preferences.
  • Registration details cannot be modified after submission.
  • Other permitted application details may be corrected by paying
    ₹50 for each modification attempt.
  • Keep the registered mobile number and email address active during
    the complete selection process.
  • Apprenticeship training does not automatically provide a permanent
    job or appointment in Indian Railways.
  • Selected candidates must arrange their own accommodation during
    training.
  • Do not pay money to any agent claiming to guarantee selection.
    Selection is based only on the prescribed merit process.
